April 23– Philippine and Chinese warships are in a stand-off over claims to the remote Scarborough Shoal.
The crisis began when a Philippine warship stopped Chinese fishing vessels trespassing in waters claimed by the Philippines.
President Obama is closely monitoring the crisis, since American and Filipino forces are conducting joint military exercises near the heavily disputed Spratly Islands. The Chinese Communist Party objects to these military exercises authorized by President Obama.

Oct. 2011– Vietnam changed its military draft code in preparation for war with China in the South China Sea.
China’s belligerent claim to the strategic and mineral-rich Spratly Islands increased, after the Chinese Communist Party deployed its largest military vessels to the region in response to Vietnam’s “live-fire exercises” and what the CCP calls the “U.S. government’s meddling” in China’s internal affairs.
Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Ngyuen Tan Dung, recently leveled charges of increased belligerency against the Chinese Communist Party and said Vietnam’s sovereignty regarding the Spartly Islands is not up for discussion.
The Chinese Communist Party is attempting to permanently cut off international shipping lanes in the Eastern Sea (AKA South China Sea) to cause economic chaos in Western nations and to lay claim to the [currently] unattainable riches found far below the ocean floor around the Spratly Islands [explained later in this article].
Chinese Communist Party navy personnel, under orders from Beijing, have massacred Vietnamese, Filipino and Malaysian military personnel, as well as respective civilians in the region due to CCP territorial claims.
The CCP’s navy also had several incidents with U.S. Naval vessels, and it has warned the United States to stay out of the [Eastern] South China Sea. The U.S. Navy tries to constantly enforce international laws by making its presence known in international shipping lanes.

World War III starts over an area in the western Pacific Ocean known as the Spratly Island group.
Claimed by Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan, the Spratly Islands also attract a belligerent ownership claim from distant neighbor China due to issues of geopolitics.
Found in the middle of major shipping lanes and having abundant commercial fishing possibilities, the Spratly Islands trigger human conflict for an even greater reason: untapped oil, gas and mineral reserves discovered far below the surface of these remote islands.
Geological estimates put the regions oil and gas reserves at 25-billion tons, far outweighing the combined reserves currently found in Kuwait and Nigeria. Here’s the problem: nobody has the technology to extract anything— yet. Most reserves sit far beneath the oceanic crust in sedimentary beds.
By violently establishing their claim on the Spartly Islands, the Chinese Communist Party hopes to prepare for technological advances in deep sea drilling and mining, so they have the ability to directly profit from the area’s natural resources– and cause irreversible environmental damage in the process.
LEGITIMATE CLAIMS BASED ON GEOGRAPHY AND MARITIME LAW
Geographically speaking, the Spratly Islands are closest to the Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei. But Malaysia claims the Spratly’s based on the United Nation’s Law of the Sea, recognizing rights granted off their continental shelf and every nation’s right to make a claim based on an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 200 miles off a country’s coastline.
Of course, the most belligerent and ridiculous claim comes from the distant Chinese Communist Party. Citing the Spratly’s as ancient Chinese fishing grounds found in a vague reference in mythological maps, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) set up military stations on the uninhabited island group under the guise of fishing outposts and lighthouses.
The CCP gave warnings to Vietnam and Malaysia after the two countries made new claims in 2009. Claiming the Spratly’s as sovereign territory, the Chinese Communists have warned of dire consequences if other countries infringe on their ridiculous claim.
In 1988, the Chinese Communists intercepted several Vietnamese military vessels. The CCP massacred the Vietnamese soldiers for attempting to land on Vietnamese soil in the Spratly Islands.
Many confrontations have taken place over the years: all between the CCP and whoever dares to lay claim to the Spratly Islands.
Based on the interpretation of international and maritime law, THE LAST COLUMNIST believes The Philippines hold the strongest claim. Since it’s entirely an Island Nation, the Spratly Islands fall within internationally accepted definitions of territorial possessions for archipelago nations.

The missiles have the capability to travel 700 miles and destroy a United States aircraft carrier with one shot. As long as North Korea does the CCP’s dirty work, they can plead innocence on the world stage. Also, they successfully tested a new space weapon that can destroy U.S. satellites. All U.S. military weapons, including ships, tanks, aircraft, and soldiers rely on satellites to maintain military readiness. Once the satellites are destroyed, the CCP can move at will.
Recently, the Chinese Communists began economic warfare against countries refusing to recognize their alleged sovereign right to the Spratly Islands and their desire for worldwide conquest.
The CCP controls 90% of the world’s rare-earth minerals, crucial to manufacturing technologically advanced goods. Due to economic disagreements with the U.S. and Japan, the CCP stopped exporting the minerals. The Chinese Communist Party lifted the embargo after heavy diplomatic pressure. As for China, they should not claim the Islands. As for LAW and Rules, they are not worthy of their claims. Historical basis is not the issue.

War… Do you realize what you’re asking for? Do you think in a war between our people and the Chinese would only affect China or the US? War between China and the US is as good as signing the death warrants for millions of people world-wide. Yes, we have superior technology and superior firepower… but China is not without its defensive and offensive capability.
Yes, our people would likely win a direct confrontation with China, but at what cost? Then there is the humanitarian in me saying “Look at the work-camps, fenced in on top of Chinese factories.” It is then that I realize that there is indeed significant corruption in China. I’m not saying there isn’t any in the United States, but some of the things that go on in China are rather frightening.
Yet still… war. It always… always comes to war. You know what really happens in a war? Brother will fight, and kill, brother. The truth is slaughtered en mass and the liberties of all people trampled. And the innocent… those who did not seek conflict – those who did not seek anything other than to live their lives in peace? They always suffer the most. A field can be cleaned and plowed over. Buildings, roads, thing can all be rebuilt. But when a person is dead, that’s it. They will never smile. They will never cry. They will never laugh, or sneeze, or get angry, or love ever again. Everything they were, are, and ever could have been, ends right there.
Never wish for war, my friends. World War III? The death and devastation would be immeasurable. I cannot speak for any other country – save Vietnam, but when the United States truly, and deeply feels challenged, or threatened, we are one of the most frightening monsters on this planet. When we all agree – when our great nation moves as one, the resulting force is overwhelming. If we do not take great care to use the force wisely, it will be the death of us all. This is what I know of the United States. Vietnam proved themselves similar in the fact that when their homeland was under attack by our forces (as I’m sure many of them saw it as, reverse the roles and wouldn’t you?), they relentlessly fought us back at every turn. The harder we pushed, the more they steeled their resolve to stop us. Japan did as well, but their numbers were exhausted by the end.
Let us assume that every nation has its patriots, as I’m sure most if not all certainly do. If everyone, everywhere, were fighting each other, and they knew their nation would certainly fall, so before they let it fall… There could well end up being no United States. No China, no Russia, or Saudi Arabia, or Vietnam, or England, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, Cuba, Kuwait, Ireland, Scotland… Everything, everyone, all that we were, all that we’ve accomplished since before our histories remember, it will all be gone. Lost to the man-made cataclysm that is global war.
I vote for peace. There has to be something that all sides want or need that can be negotiated. Is China simply grabbing for resources or is there something more behind it? How anti-American is the current communist regime there? Are the deeper issues really something more along the lines of “China (its leadership, in whole or in part) wants to be recognized as an intelligent and viable member of the upper-echelon of civilizations here on Earth.”? Are conditions around China really as awful as has been reported? Are they making strong efforts to change and/or improve conditions for their people?
I’m sure there are many more things along those lines that could or have been examined. As I say, I want peace. If one nation moving as one can be an immeasurable and nearly unstoppable force, imagine what a whole world could do if they put the effort into it? I’m not promoting a “One-world Government,” I’m promoting a “Nations of the World cooperating for mutual benefit” approach. Idealistic, I know. What can I say, I’m a dreamer.
Which brings me to this: never underestimate humanity’s power to dream. Everything we see around us that isn’t naturally occurring was someone’s dream. There are countless cases of one man and/or many people transforming their dreams into reality all over the world. If just a few people, or even a large group of people can do so much… imagine, just imagine, what could happen if we all worked to make one dream come true? The power of us as a race is limited by our own ignorance of what we can accomplish together.
Now take said power, and direct toward ending global hunger, global cruelty, global corruption… or take it and put it to something perhaps more practical and capable of furthering humanity’s ability to feed itself. I’m crazy. Right? Wrong. Think *REALLY* long term. We have to go there. Space. We have to find other worlds, inhabited or not. We have to seek our place among the stars. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter what happens here on Earth.
When our sun eventually starts dieing, it will cook the surface of the planet for a very, very long time. After that it may explode, or it may collapse, what happens around this time isn’t exactly known, but what happens after is. It will grow cold, and it will die. And when it does, it will take Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes, Plato, Galileo, Magellan, Joan of Arc, Einstein, Lao Tzu (Laozi), Dr. Weird, Superman, the crying kid from Neon Genesis Evangelion, you, me, the house, the trees… it’ll take us all with it. And then this conflict, the next conflict, everything that comes next and all that came before: it’s all for nothing. Unless we learn how to get along and reach for the stars.
A very thought out comment but if a country such as china gets their way without resistance then what would stop them from claiming more? ultimately, it would lead to unorganized fighting and poverty for the people in the areas invaded. War might lead to deaths but if there are no more choices then so be it. Prolonging this would likely lead to more deaths than a war would.

No one can tell us with certainty what tomorrow’s weather will be except the one who causes it – God – but by listening to the weather report or looking at the sky, people use their eyes and their brains to at least make an educated guess about tomorrow’s weather. Likewise, no one can tell us with certainly when the exact timing of Jesus’ return will be except the one who will cause it to happen – God the Father (Mt. 12:36) – but by listening to the right world news sources, people can use their eyes and their brains to at least make an educated guess about how close we are to the return of Jesus Christ. Jesus said that when you see certain things begin to happen, “look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near,” and “when you see them happen the kingdom of God is near” (Luke 21:28,31). Jesus and Paul both taught that the proper way to wait for His return is to therefore be watchful, ready and sober (Matthew 24:42-44,25:13; 1 Th. 5:6).
The apostle John wrote that when Jesus appears we who believe in Him shall become like him, and everyone having this hope in Him purifies himself (1 John 3:2,3). He also wrote that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). So two benefits of studying Bible prophecy and comparing it to world events are personal purification and a better understanding of Jesus. Besides, in 1 Th. 4:18 Christians are commanded to encourage each other with words about the return of Christ. Hebrews 10:24,25 says that as we should regularly meet to encourage one another, especially as we see the Day of Jesus’ return approaching.
Although we cannot say with certainty how today’s events are related to Bible prophecy, it is unwise to ignore them. Following are 10 for your consideration:
1. Wars and rumors of wars
“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” (Matthew 24:6,7a) Since World War II, many countries have been building up massive arsenals of conventional and nuclear weapons. The potential for war grows day by day. In addition to potential nuclear war, we have war on terror, water wars, weather wars, Albert Pike’s Three World Wars, angel wars, and transhuman wars.
2. Famines, Pestilence, Earthquakes
“And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matthew 24:7b,8). Due to flooding and droughts, world food supplies are running very low. Many people are expecting a global food shortage and famines in many places.
In 2007, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a warning that infectious diseases are emerging more quickly and spreading faster around the globe than ever before, and they are becoming increasingly difficult to treat. The UN said in its 2007 annual world health report that an outbreak or epidemic in one part of the world can easily threaten billions of people in other parts due to large numbers of modern day air travelers.
Regarding earthquakes, scientific data does show that we have been seeing a large increase in seismic activity. According to a number of scientists, another star or large planet is affecting the sun’s magnetic field, which is also affecting the earth’s magnetic field – both the core and the ionosphere. The north pole is shifting at an accelerated pace, and the earth seems to be expanding. Thus, we should see a continual increase in earthquakes and volcanic activity in coming years. 3. Deceivers who claim to follow Jesus
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name saying that I am the Christ and will deceive many.” Mt. 24:4,5
At the end of the Church Age many people will be claiming that Jesus is the Christ, yet their teaching will deceive many. They will teach ideas that are contrary to the Bible. Perhaps the majority of professing Christian teachers in the world today fall into this camp, as most have fallen away from sound Biblical teachings and instead place traditions of men and/or the goal of increasing church attendance figures above the authority of the Bible. Some are subtle, and some are blatant. Sincere followers of Jesus should come out of these wayward institutional churches and seek to fellowship with people who follow and teach what Jesus and His apostles did. 4. People of Israel return to their land
“Thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel.’ ” (Ezekiel 37:21,22).
During the last 126 years Jews from 108 nations have migrated to the land of Israel.
In 1882 the first wave of modern immigration to Israel started as Jews fled persecution, or followed the Socialist Zionist ideas of Moses Hess. From 1882 to 1919 around 75,000 Jews immigrated to Palestine, mostly from Russia. They bought land from Ottoman and individual Arab landholders and established agricultural settlements. During this period the Hebrews language was revived, newspapers and literature were published in Hebrew and political parties and workers organizations were established.
In 1917 during World War I, the British government in its Balfour Declaration supported plans for a ‘national home’ for the Jews in their promised land. Later, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) lost control of the Middle East. This made it possible for hundreds of thousands more immigrants to arrive from Europe. Anti-Semitism drove most there. Many more would have come had it not been for Arab protest and resulting British restrictions on immigration.
During World War II, the Nazis killed around 6 million Jews in the Holocaust, so it became clear to the Jews that they needed a homeland. Many Holocaust survivors immigrated illegally to Palestine. When the British pulled out of Palestine in May 1948, the state of Israel formally declared its independence. It was immediately recognized by the USA, followed by Guatemala, Nicaragua & Uruguay. A few days later, the Soviet Union, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and South Africa did the same. No Arab states have ever recognized Israel, but several have attacked them. However, Israel has successfully defended itself against numerous Arab attacks. As a result, Jews throughout the Middle East have also been forced to immigrate to Israel, and the nation has grown strong. It has turned a desert into an agricultural success, and it’s technology industry exports cutting edge innovations.
Today, Israel’s population is over 7 million, including around 267,000 who live in Judea and Samaria (sometimes called the West Bank) and 180,000 in East Jerusalem. In 2008, Israel will celebrate it’s 60 anniversary in the face of Arabs who hate it and want to ‘wipe it off the map’. It is still mostly a secular state, but it has a growing percentage of Orthodox Jews.· Today, the Aliyah immigration movement continues to embrace Jewish newcomers, help them become a part of communities and help them learn Hebrew.

5. Increased wickedness & loss of love
“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12) Today, more and more people are living primarily for themselves and their own happiness. The idea of denying themselves, taking up their crosses daily and following Jesus (Luke 9:23) is a foreign concept. What TV and movies show as ‘normal’ has affected the values of those who indulge in them. At the same time, couples are divorcing, and children are growing up with deep unmet needs as a result. Many couples are not even marrying but living together in fornication (any form of sex not sanctioned by God). The result has been the blood sacrifice (murder) of hundreds of millions of innocent, helpless children through abortion and the birthing of even more children who lack a healthy home where they can receive love and training from their own father and mother.
6. Return of the Fallen Angels and Hybrid Heroes
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days–and also afterward–when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. The were the heroes of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:4
The Nephilim are most likely the fallen angels, since Nephilim comes from the Hebrew word naphal, which means ‘to fall’. Some have mated with human women to produce hybrid offspring, and they were giants who had the ability to lead millions of people away from the true God. Heroes of old comes from the Hebrew word gibbowr, which means a ‘mighty man’. Before the flood they corrupted the whole earth. After the flood, they were perhaps not as large, but still powerful. The Bible mentions some of their tribal names: the Rephaim, the Emim, the Anakim, the Horim, and Zamsummim. (See Num 13:33; Deuteronomy 3:11, 12:10-12; Joshua 4:15, 13:12, 1 Samuel 17:4-7; 2 Samuel 17:16-22.) Ancient texts and pictures from Egyptian, Greek and other cultures also talk of giants or men who were offspring of supernatural beings. When these hybrid beings died, their spirits probably became demons, or the evil or unclean spirits that inhabit men. These are probably what Jesus and His followers are commanded to cast out or exercise (Mt. 10:1; Mk. 16:17; Lk. 10:17-24). (Note: the Bible is a bit ambiguous on whether the Nephilim were the fallen angels or their hybrid offspring and whether demons are fallen angels or the spirits of their hybrid offspring, but history and modern eyewitness accounts testify to the reality of both, so semantics should not be an excuse for unbelief.)
Jesus said, “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man” (Luke 17:26). Thus, we can also expect the Nephilim as well as hybrid mighty beings to here before Jesus’ return. In fact, they are already here, but they are not publicly disclosed through most official channels. However, a number of Christians have researched them, and eyewitnesses have testified of seeing them. The various types of sighted aliens are actually materialized fallen angels, and some men and women with great physical and/or persuasive powers are hybrid offspring. 7. Strong delusion
And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie. (2 Th. 2:11 NKJV)
The primary focus of the deception is use of the media by the Prince of the Power of the Air. TV, radio, Internet, cell phones, PDAs, etc. keep people completely preoccupied and oblivious to the fate that awaits unbelievers. The goal is also to prevent people from hearing the Gospel of Jesus, and if they do hear it to forget about it and be entertained constantly. Most people in developed countries are now in a fog due to the impact of these mediums that lull them into a false sense of security and into a false sense of right and wrong. This delusion can be seen in three areas:
Spiritually, the Emerging Church has become so pervasive that most churches in developed countries will tolerate abortion (murder), fornication (premarital sex, adultery, homosexuality) and almost any other violation of God’s law. Just think: how many churches will excommunicate a person for involvement in these sins?
Financially, manyt people are unaware that government / banking cartel partnership is stealing their wealth and using the funds to control the world. The stealing is done through the printing of fiat money (money not based on gold or silver but on debt), through interest on money that does not exist (due to fractional reserve banking laws) and through the saw tooth effect of markets that draws people into bad investments over a long period of time and then makes them lose large portions of their life savings when the markets drop. Politically, most people are also unaware that the international banking cartel has taken over all governments and is quietly re-organizing borders and power centers throughout the world. Evidence of this can be seen in the 911 deception. Most Americans and those sympathetic to the US government think that airplanes caused three steel-frame buildings to fall down into their footprints at almost freefall speed, when this has never happened in all of known history. People who study the facts realize it was a very successful psyop, since jet fuel is not hot enough to do the job. It had to be done by controlled demolitions. This was probably part of a plan to cause a second Pearl Harbor and justify the US military getting a foothold in the Middle East and justify the US government in taking away many constitutional rights of the US people.
8. One world government
“And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything: and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.” (Daniel 2:40 NKJV)

9. One world ruler and an assistant emerge

Through study of both China’s past and the present, i have come to the conclusion that these territorial disputes are so strongly emphasized by China on the basis not of mineral and oil reserves (china has vast pool’s of resources it can draw from. it wouldn’t be an economical decision if it were just for resources, however i do believe the roots of china’s desperate claims lie in its history and that the island claims are more from an honor and regaining national pride point of view to ‘make up’ for its rather embarrassing past in the last century
